I'M BACK!!!

Hello there bloggeroos and Happy Monday!

I can say those words with glee because I decided to give myself an extra vacation day today.  That's right.  I'm still home.  As a matter of fact, I shamefully rolled out of bed at 10AM.  I haven't done that in ages.

Now you'd think I've been partying all this time.  In reality I've been staying up late watching Christmas movies.  Now that we have Direct TV (and they should pay me for this free advertizement) we have Hallmark Channel along with Lifetime and all those other cool stations that are showing tear-jerker Christmas movies.

I'll be hopping around and visiting in just a few minutes, but first I think this is the perfect moment to give everyone...well, the bird.

MY RECIPE FOR DRUNKEN TURKEY

14LB TURKEY

2 TBSP PARSLEY
2 TBSP ROSEMARY
2 TBSP THYME
2 TBSP BASIL
2 TBSP SAGE
2 CELERY STALKS CHOPPED
1 ONION CHOPPED
1 ORANGE CUT IN WEDGES

CRAM IT ALL UP THE BIRD'S...CAVITY
FOLLOWED BY AS MUCH CHAMPAGNE AS YOU CAN FIT IN THERE.
POUR THE REST OF THE CHAMPAGNE OVER THE BIRD.
FEEL FREE TO SAMPLE SOME.

COAT BIRD WITH LIGHT BUTTER SPRAY
SEASON WITH LEMON PEPPER AND ALL SEASON SALT.

BAKE AT 325 FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS OR UNTIL THERMOMETER POPS OUT.
BASTE OFTEN.  I PREFER THE FLIP THE BIRD OVER METHOD MYSELF.

...^-^...

NEXT...SUPER AWESOME SWEET WINE ALERT.

Nightie Knight - $12.95
Red
A super sweet, grapey red wine. Perfect for those cold nights curled up in front of the fireplace. Made with the sweet wine lover in mind.

For those of you who live in Nebraska, it is sold at the Council Bluffs Hyvee as well as the above listed winery.  Sorry for all of you who will be missing out.  Trivia:  Did you know dessert wines although very sweet actually have the highest percentage of alcohol.  Not to worry...you can't even taste the stuff.  :)

WAY COOL STUFF:

Remember that Holiday Blog Hop I entered, which was highly entertaining.  Well, I won this.

You are not alone
Discover how Lauren Kate transformed the feeling of that one mean girl getting under her skin into her first novel, how Lauren Oliver learned to celebrate ambiguity in her classmates and in herself, and how R.L. Stine turned being the “funny guy” into the best defense against the bullies in his class.
Today’s top authors for teens come together to share their stories about bullying—as silent observers on the sidelines of high school, as victims, and as perpetrators—in a collection at turns moving and self-effacing, but always deeply personal.

Is that cool or what?  I plan on reading it immediately.  Thank you to Jenny at http://jennysimaginaryworld.blogspot.com/ and Megan at  http://megandolan.blogspot.com/ and to all the participants who made the bloghop so much fun.

ALSO:

TODAY IS CYBER MONDAY...which turns me into a complete cyber whore...another reason why I'm late this morning.  So I bought cute little KINDLE.

This means I can finally read all of your books without straining my eyes on my laptop.
YAY ME!!!

FINALLY: And I will not take up more of anyone's time.  Unikorna asked to see a picture of me cooking the turkey at my kitchen.  Unfortunately, I didn't get her comment until after Thanksgiving and no pictures were taken.  I will, however, give it my best for Christmas.

So how about a cute pic of me and hubs at fancy smansy piano bar instead.

No he doesn't play the piano, but each time I see this picture I like to pretend.

See you all around.  Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Did anyone do Black Friday?

...^-^...

  1. No Black Friday for me. Worked lopping hair but it was quiet b/c of that horrible shopping day. Later, when I got home I tried to catch up on blog reading and other things.

Congrat on winning your new read.

  6. Poor turkey. Not only was it artificially inseminated and broiled when raised to adulthood...it was also drunk too.

  7. Aw. You guys make an awesome couple. Glad you had a fun holiday.

  8. Welcome back, Laila! I've missed you! You and hubs are just too darn cute. And hey, I coulda used that recipe BEFORE Thanksgiving, not after! LOL! Maybe for Christmas. And do you really watch Hallmark and Lifetime? Really? Hahaha, just kidding around. I'm glad you're back.

(BTW - yes, I did get your email yesterday and I should get on your ms tomorrow and get back to you. Thanks!)

  16. You should have told me you wanted Directv before you got it. If I knew, you could have got a $100 and I could have got a $100.
    Oh, well. ;)

  17. So glad you're back! I love some red wine--hope the Hyvee in Papillion has it. And love that picture--makes me imagine that Pretty Woman scene, hubba, hubba. Wait, that came out wrong.

  18. I received my Kindle last week. After pressing away with great frustration, I finally found a blog that said the lighter the touch, the better. Now on to all those free pre-copyright works.
Oh, and you watch Lifetime TV? You probably think I'm evil, because I'm a man. Those shows are so insensitive. ;)

  19. 1) In honor of Black Friday, I slept in til 10am.

    2) You're a very attractive couple.

    3) Have you tried Chocolate Port? It's pretty strong and delicious.

    Be well, Laila.

  20. For some reason, I keep reading that as 'Coat the bird lightly with Pepper Spray'. I said, huh?

  21. No black Friday for me, but that is one tasty looking turkey. :)

  22. "Did anyone do Black Friday"? Golly, Laila, that sounds dirty. Come to think of it...Mrs. Penwasser DID leave early and didn't come back with much. Hmm........
Tell me how you like the Kindle. WARNING: CRAZY OLD MAN CRANKY RANT ahead. I just can't get into those new-fangled electro-gizmos. I like the tactile feeling of a good book (hmm, now THAT sounds dirty). Give me paper, dagnabbit (NOTE: Probably nobody but crazy, cranky old men say 'dagnabbit' anymore).
    By the way, stunning picture!

  23. You know how much I wish you blogged more intensively, I've already told you that. Just a reminder...:)
Yes yes yes for your pictures, do you have any idea how long I've been waiting for those? You are so delightful and alluring, so sweet and sensual wow. Your husband seems entirely under your spell and it's understandable..You are a lovely couple :).
    The turkey looks yummy...

  25. I was watching all those zappy movies along side you, Laila. In fact, this is such a super post that I almost climbed inside. Lovely pic of you and your DH. Too cute. Glad you had a nice holiday.

  26. Uh-oh, you've been Kindle-fied. You'll never go back. I'm so totally addicted to mine. I think Amazon might have a lien on my house. Mwah hah hah. Hope you enjoy it. Don't watch Lifetime for too many hours . . . that channel scares me. All those women in peril stories! LOL.

  27. Congrats on the Kindle and sleeping in. Yay for 10 am wake up times!

  28. I want more posts from you lovely Laila, how about an update on your writing projects :). If you don't mind...

  29. I did black friday from my laptop. I couldn't wait for Cyber-Monday like the rest of the world.

My wife wants to know if the turkey can really get done in 3 hours at that temp, she expects to cook it for far longer... and she is making another turkey this weekend so we might try your recipe. But we don't want to get sick from undercooking the bird.

Yea for getting the Kindle. If you want I'll send you a coupon for my novelette. Not sure my story is really your cup of tea though.

  30. Yum. This turkey recipe sounds yummy. I will use this one next year.
