IF I HAD ALL THE MAGIC IN THE WORLD.

Hey there fellow bloggers.  This is Monday's post.  I signed up for Elizabeth Mueller's book launch.  Check it out.  It looks like an awesome read.

Now, our spectacular author asked us to answer one question.  If we had all the magic in the world, what would we do with it?

Well, I'm sitting here on a Saturday night writing this, on my bed, with a severe attack of plantar fasciitis (like walking on knives), and this is what I could come up with.

If I had all the magic in the world I’d conjure up a pair of wings and take a flight.  I’d navigate the airways like a pro.  I’d wave hello to angels and spear through stormy clouds.  That’s if I had all the magic in the world.

If I had all the magic in the world I’d bring back the unicorn and take it for a ride near crystal waters.  Once there I’d yell a loud hurray, a summons to gnomes and fairies to come and play.  That’s if I had all the magic in the world.

If I had all the magic in the world I’d use it to travel back in time and play the damsel in distress in King Arthur’s kingdom.  I’d wear a lovely dress, make use of my duress, and ensnare a handsome knight.  That’s if I had all the magic in the world.

If I had all the magic in the world I’d fabricate a dragon from a ball of clay and teach it to eat kibble and play fetch.  I’d make myself a hammock from his wing and name him Teddy.  That’s if I had all the magic in the world.

If I had all the magic in the world I’d banish all the barriers between realms and play Parcheesi with an elf, Backgammon with a nymph, and Chess with a Satyr.  That’s if I had all the magic in the world.

If I had all the magic in the world I’d send out a homing beacon to other planets to lure friendly aliens out of hiding.  Then we’d sit and drink some tea while discussing the state of the galaxy.  That’s if I had all the magic in the world.

If I had all the magic in the world I would do much…but I don’t have all the magic in the world. so I’ll be human for just a little while and wield my only power, that of love, and hope I can give magic to the world.

Anybody know an instant cure for plantar fasciitis?  I'm in tears here.

And oh crap, my answer is so lame... Maybe I should change my post for Monday.

  2. Congrats to Elizabeth on the book launch and sorry to hear about your plantar fasciitis. I don't know an instant cure but a friend told me that she (slowly) helped hers by rolling her foot on a can. It might help relieve some of the pain pretty quickly and then help it to heal... worth a try!

  3. Congratulations to Elizabeth!

Aww, Laila! I hate to hear that you're in pain. :( Your post was really good, though. I wouldn't mind borrowing some of your magic for that knight thing. ;)

  4. I am very sorry to hear that you are in pain. :(

  5. Laila--ibuprofen, ice to the foot (freeze a water bottle and roll your foot on it or use a bag of peas), toe curl exercises--like pick up a pencil with the toes or curl them into a towel or over the side of a heavy book, then straighten. Also, wrap a towel or band around the balls of your feet and do a calf stretch. Hope you feel better! And I would totally have a dragon. Like Dany Targaryen in Game of Thrones.

  6. I understand the pain. How to relieve it? Stay away from flat shoes like flip-flops and freeze old water bottles and roll them under your feet. Hope you get better. You and Sir Poops-A-Lot.

  7. Great post! Hope you start to feel better soon. Sorry I don't know of any remedies.

  8. Sorry about the foot thing, I suffered from that for a long time (still do, actually). Have you tried the little strap thing across the bottom of your foot?

The only other thing that helped me was the cortisone shot.

If I had all the magic in the world, that little problem would get fixed.

  9. I've had Plantar Fasciitis and so has hubby. I think the best cure is to rest it and it will resolve itself with time and avoid tensing up as this will make it worse. Shame the flick of a magic wand can't cure it for you. Hope it heals soon. x

  10. Wonderful post full of righteous ideas. No idea for your foot though. Stay off it. Use heat. Look up on google. Soak it in warm water. Get someone to dig out the wart. Go to doctor on Monday.

I should talk. I've got a earache that feels like it'll never end.

  11. Beautifully written, Laila! Sounds like a wonderful party =-)

As for your foot, that little strap thing worked well for my mom, a tennis hound. My friend used steroid shots up until she had surgery. Both are happy & pain free now so it's worth looking into. Good luck & I hope you feel better!

  12. if I had a little bit of magic I'd use it to cross the ocean and meet you, have a cup of green tea with you, kiss both your cheeks and look over your alien family album :). Oh Laila, men wrote songs for women like you...

  16. Poor you Laila. Not a happy time in the Kingdom, is it?

I've had it--well my plantar was torn up. Cure? For me it was 5 months in a wheelchair and 7 with a cane. No fun at all.

Magic? Plumb out of it today.

  21. That was beautiful! I hope you're feeling at least a little better by now. I don't know of a cure, but the boutique where I work sells these shoes - Naot - that customers with plantar fasciitis claim are the BEST. Maybe they sell them near you? www.naot.com (US site)

  23. Congrats, Elizabeth!!

Wow, Laila, you'd do quite a lot if you had magic :).

For plantar fasciitis there is no quick cure, but fill a soda bottle (one of the smaller ones) with water and freeze. Then put it under your foot and roll it forward and back. It tends to help. I know about the pain. Sorry.

  25. If i had all the magic in the world I'd be changing all the behavior of those who destroy the forests. I will return as usual when I first created..

nice see you again Laila :)

  26. You got your wish. You DO give magic to the world. It's called the Untroubled Kingdom of Laila Knight!

And I'd love a dragon that could play fetch. Right now, all I have is a Chihuahua that THINKS she's a dragon. (And she does play fetch!)

  27. Hey sweetie,
Sorry to hear you are suffering,:( hope you get better soon, sending *hugs* your way.
Great blog post, so magical and mystical, the way you express yourself in your writing is breathtaking, it would be so good to have magic to do good things with, but you know humanity, needs wants more, some things are never enough for alot of people are they? Can you imagine how they would get if they had the power to do good things with? Some would soon use it for themselves :( But hey ho that's the way things can be sometimes.
What you said on my blog is so true, you do have to live life and do the other stuff as it comes instead of building your life around your work, it should be fit your work around your life, where possible obviosly.
Anyway I will bore you no more, must fly.
Take care and get well soon xxxxx

  28. I already consider you a magical person.

But admittedly, if you ever did conjured up a dragon from clay, I'd write to the president of the US to send a few FBI agents to monitor your activity.
